When I arrived at the Chicago Cultural Center “architectural showplace for the lively and visual arts,” I felt that the Center and the Foundation were mutually inclusive to the artistic core. What better place for the Chicago Fashion Foundation to host their Annual Membership Meeting than this hub of culture meets art meets modern creativity. All of which encompass the ideals of most every member of The Foundation.
The guest speaker for the night was Melissa Turner, Chicago ’s “new fashion director.” Melissa started out the evening acknowledging the “business driven” and “behind the scenes driven” nature of the Chicago Fashion Foundation. Mayer Daley has turned to Ms. Turner to head the new Fashion Advisory Council, as an initiative to promote Chicago as a place for designers to learn, grow, and stay.
